Ogden, forty years the head professional at North Shore, left a lasting impression on the Illinois golf community through his expert instruction and his tireless development of the apprentice PGA professional. As a player, Ogden competed in over thirty major championships, including three Masters. He qualified fourteen times for the U.S. Open and was a top 30 finisher in eight Western Opens. Bill won eighteen Illinois Section titles, and is the only Grand Slam winner in Illinois history: the Illinois Open, PGA Medal Play, PGA Match Play and the Assistant's Championship in 1953-1954. He won the Illinois PGA Player of the Year title a record six times.
